I am a bit late to the party but FALL IS HERE PEOPLE. What better way to celebrate the cozy season than by decorating your home for fall! It is never too late to start – it’s only mid-October and fall has barely just begun. I know home décor can be expensive and it can easilyyy add up. Places like Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Restoration Hardware are selling pumpkin pillows for $49.50 and I don’t know about you, but I CANNOT afford that (right now at least, hopefully one day in the future because I love their stuff).
That’s why I have compiled a list of some of my FAV home décor finds that can easily transition your home from summer to fall in minutes. Adding in these few items is so affordable and makes your home, apartment, or even college dorm room a place that you want to spend time in for the fall!
Incorporate any of these items in your living room, kitchen, bedroom, or entryway.
1. Dried Florals or Branches
The first thing I always love adding into my space for fall are dried florals. To be honest, I love dried florals for all seasons. I am not the best plant person (for some reason I can never keep them alive), which is why I will always opt-in for anything that doesn’t require watering ;). Dried florals are extremely low maintenance, yet they still provide that realistic plant look while avoiding any plastic-y feel.
I’ve had really great luck finding cute dried florals at Michael’s. Currently, their dried floral section contains eucalyptus, bunny tails, lavender, etc. The branches in the photo below are from Michael’s and you won’t believe the price I got them at! These were a part of their “summer collection” and one stem was $4 on Clearance!!! I bought two stems in total, which was plenty to fill this vase for my countertop. Even if the dried florals at Michael’s aren’t on Clearance, they always have such great coupons for full-price items, you can’t go wrong.
Another shop that has AMAZING dried florals, is AFLORAL. I’ve linked a few of my favorites here.
2. Decorative Fall Throw Blanket
To get the warm, cozy feeling for your home as the temperatures drop, throw blankets are the perfect addition. I love going for darker tones such as maroon, burgundy, moss green, and browns for fall. But I also think light beiges or browns can still create a fall, cozy vibe. To add dimension, I look for blankets that create a lot of texture for my space. This could include faux fur, knit wool, or even a smooth linen feel. Quickly grab a budget-friendly one and layer it on your couch or bed. HomeGoods or TJMaxx has great options. I have to sneak in this moss green wool knit one that I literally love.
I think moss green is such an amazing color for this fall season, especially if you have a fairly neutral home that needs a pop of color without being too overwhelming. This blanket is a bit on the pricier side but looks high quality and super high-end. Looking at the photo just makes me want to bundle up in it and put on Halloweentown High!
Amazon also has some really great ones that look high-end, but won’t break the bank (linked a few of my favs below)!
*DUPE ALERT*
If you’re feeling bougie and wanting something that will probably last forever – the ICONIC Pottery Barn throw that everyone loves. Talk about elevating your space and getting that expensive, luxurious feel.
But for those of y’all on a budget like me, I found this dupe of the Pottery Barn blanket at a fraction of the price!!! I’ve seen this one in multiple colors as well (always check the TJMaxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls website since they’re all under the same parent company).
For this season, I went a bit more festive (mostly for my dog lol). I found this super cute Halloween-themed blanket at Marshalls for only $24.99! It’s a thin, knit texture, which I found perfect for transitioning out of summer and into fall. I just couldn’t say no to the dog dressed as a ghost holding a ‘trick or treat’ basket!!!
3. Fall Scented Candles
Furthermore, nothing screams FALL more than the smell of pumpkin, cinnamon, and apple cider. I always get my seasonal candles from HomeGoods or TJMaxx. You can’t beat their prices – $12.99 for a 25oz candle?! INSANE. Throw a fall scented candle in your home and it’s instantly ready for the cozy season. Here are a few I found online, but there are wayyy more options in-store (can you tell I love Sand & Fog/Sand & Paws):
(fun tip, if you look for these candles in a HomeGoods/TJMaxx store, you can switch out the tops if you don’t love the one it comes with!)
You also can’t have candles without an electric lighter and wick dipper. I’ve recently been obsessed with my electric lighter (because I lowkey can’t use matches). They are so cheap at Amazon and can even act as home décor! I’ve linked mine below:
4. Pumpkins! (but keeping it classy)
Obviously, the first thing everyone thinks of when they think of fall is pumpkins. Pumpkins can easily turn tacky QUICK. I found that the best way to incorporate pumpkins into your home that look classy and stylish is by adding pumpkins with a natural texture. Wooden and paper pumpkins are some of my favorites (clearly from the photo below lol). No surprise here, but HomeGoods or TJMaxx is WHERE IT’S AT.
The wood ones in the photo below came in a bag I randomly found at HomeGoods. The white paper ones were actually on sticks and in a bouquet. Bought the bouquet for $7.99 and just pulled them off the stem to place in the bowl. I found that mixing them both added a layer of dimension and texture that wasn’t there before!
I’ve found that Target, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon also have some great options. Simply search for “pumpkin vase filler” and they’re pretty easy to find! I’ve also linked some here for convenience 🙂
5. Fall Prints
Last, but definitely NOT least, fall prints are literally the EASIEST way to spice up your home décor on a BUDGET. The best place to look for fall prints is PINTEREST. And they are FREE!!!
- Pin a bunch you like to a Pinterest board
- Narrow down your favorites
- Get them printed!!!
I normally go to Walgreens because they are DIRT CHEAP. They also almost always have coupons where you can get prints for 50% off. I’ll print a few for under $5 and they are usually ready for pick up within a few hours. You could also print it yourself on cardstock – I personally haven’t tried that yet, but I think they would turn out just as cute.
Once you have your prints printed and ready to go, I love using floating frames to display the prints on countertops or console tables. Lean it up against the wall and BOOM, fall décor on a budget! You can layer the frames as well to add in some personal photos or other fall photos/prints you may have.
I’ve linked a few frames below (TJMaxx, Target, IKEA) as well as my Pinterest where I have pinned a bunch of cute fall prints you could use!
