Are you looking for an affordable sideboard that won’t completely break your bank? Or just options that are more budget-friendly yet still look super high-end and expensive? Then you NEED to check out these 9 options all under $1,000 (literally insane)!!
I don’t know about you, but finding affordable sideboards that were actually cute was such a STRUGGLE. All the ones I saw on Pinterest or Instagram were beautiful, yet I’d click on the ad and they’d be thousands of dollars.
Definitely not within my budget for my first apartment furniture.
However, before we jump into finding affordable ones…
What is a sideboard?
According to Google, a sideboard is “a flat-topped piece of furniture with cupboards and drawers, placed along a wall and used for storing dishes, glasses, and table linen”.
Generally speaking, sideboards are also super similar to buffets, credenzas, and media consoles. They have similar shapes and can be used interchangeably in my opinion! But I am not a professional interior designer, just sharing my journey in decorating my first apartment on a budget!
With that being said, I was looking for a media console for the longest time to go under my TV. But all the ones I found were a bit too small for my space and too low to the ground. That’s when I started looking for sideboard options as I noticed they were a bit taller and would fill my space better (again, just what I noticed and my opinion).
And that is how this blog post came about. I was searching for so long, that I ended up finding a bunch of affordable sideboard options that would be perfect for apartment furnishing. They will all make your apartment look super high-end and aesthetic, without breaking your bank.
So let’s get into it…
This post is all about finding the affordable sideboard of your dreams on a budget.

Affordable Sideboard of Your Dreams
Sideboard #1: Kova Sideboard Cabinet | 2-Cabinet | Cane Rattan Finish from Nathan James
Not sure if this is a well-known idea, but when I saw someone do it, I thought it was GENIUS.
As I said earlier, I was looking for an affordable media console for the longest time. Everything I liked was well over $1,000 and I just couldn’t justify buying something at that price for my first apartment.
That’s when I stumbled across the Nathan James Kova 2-Cabinet Sideboard!! I saw a photo on their website putting two of them together to create a longer sideboard and I thought it was brilliant. So that’s what I did.
You can see it in the first photo of this blog post and I absolutely love it!! Highly recommend it as I was able to spend under $500 for the whole thing.
Sideboard #2: Warwick Furniture Collection – Threshold™ from Target
This Warwick Target option is another one that I LOVE. This dark wood color adds so much character and depth to any space. It also comes in a lighter, natural wood color if that’s something you’re looking for.
Again, just like the Nathan James option, the Warwick comes in a 2 Door Cabinet version as well. If you want 4 cabinets rather than 3, you can do the same thing here! Snatch up 2 of the 2 Door Cabinets and stick them together! BOOM. You’ve got a larger sideboard for a reasonable price.
Sideboard #3: Arches Furniture Collection – Threshold™ from Target
Recently stumbled upon this one and the unique detail of it is to die for. Love the arch detail on the light wood, and the bubble-like structure of the legs. It’s giving Aspyn Ovard vibes if you know what I mean lol.
The 4-door sideboard (pictured on the left above) seems like it has tons of storage and is a fairly large piece of furniture for a good price. Once again, it comes in a 2 Door Storage Cabinet version.
From the dimensions in the product descriptions, the 4-door seems a smidge longer, yet has a lower height. If you were to put 2 2-door cabinets together, it would be a little shorter in length, but taller in height. So you definitely have options depending on your needs and the dimensions of your apartment.
Sideboard #4: Belmar Woven TV Stand for TVs up to 60″ – Project 62™ from Target
Last one from Target I swear!
This Project 62 rattan sideboard with black metal legs is perfect if you’re looking for something simple, yet still adds texture to your space. Love that there’s no hardware on the cabinets, for a clean, sleek look.
This sideboard also comes in another color, a darker/reddish wood color. It’s currently on sale at an INSANE price, so I’d snag it up if this is the look you’re going for!!
Sideboard #5: Smathering Sideboard from AllModern
Another rattan option, because clearly, we love rattan on this blog.
In comparison to the Target Project 62 option above, this one seems to be a bit taller, yet shorter in length. This makes sense as this one only has 3 cabinets while the Target option has 4.
On AllModern’s website, this is one of their best sellers and that’s definitely shown in the product’s customer reviews. The rattan detailing on the cabinets looks super high-quality (like something from Pottery Barn) and the black wood trim adds a nice contrast to the light wood color of the rattan.
Sideboard #6: BESTÅ from IKEA
The BESTA sideboard is a pretty popular one on social media and for good reason.
Sooo sleek and simple and at an UNBEATABLE price. Literally can’t go wrong. The glossy white cabinets can totally go with any home design style and can be used in so many different rooms.
I personally like the wall-mounted version of the cabinets, as it looks more high-end. But both are great and so versatile! You will have everyone asking you where you got your sideboard from and they won’t believe it’s from IKEA!!
Sideboard #7: Slatted Shallow Media, Walnut, Dark Bronze from West Elm
I know you might not think of West Elm when you think of “affordable” furniture, but there are actually some prices that will surprise you!
Like this sideboard for example. This slatted sideboard has a gorgeous walnut wood color. The simple structure adds an element of sophistication and the sliding door adds so much convenience when it comes to storing things inside.
$699 might not be “affordable” for everyone HOWEVER, I wanted to include several options in case someone wants a sturdier, higher-quality piece that’s still under $1,000.
Sideboard #8: Norre (80″) Media, Blonde from West Elm
Another West Elm option! This one is definitely getting up there in terms of price, but I wanted to include it because I absolutely love the look of it!
This simple wood sideboard is probably the most versatile option on this list. The clean shape and structure of this sideboard and the fact that there isn’t any hardware make it such a clean look. You can use this as an entryway console table, a buffet, a media console, etc.
It’s also a best-seller on West Elm’s website, so I know others out there love it as well.
Sideboard #9: Harper TV Stand from Castlery
Last but not least, this option from Castlery. This is the most expensive option and basically at the $1,000 threshold, BUT it’s so unique and I wanted to include it for those of you willing to splurge a bit.
The oval shape, curved edges, and wood slates on this sideboard make it super unique and a total statement piece for your apartment. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t find anything similar online at a cheaper price.
It also has a good amount of great reviews! Customers have commented on this piece being super high-end looking and something that elevated their home or apartment.
This is definitely an investment piece and something that you can take with you if you plan on moving in the future. It can be styled in so many ways to seamlessly blend with a variety of interior design styles. What’s not to love!!
