I know Christmas is just around the corner, but the downtime between Christmas and New Year’s is only a few days! That is why we MUST start talking about New Year’s Decoration Ideas for 2022 ASAP.
We’re all tired from the crazy home décor frenzy that is October, November, and December. We’ve got all the holidays back-to-back from Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and now New Year’s. And the stress of the holidays is totally getting to me, so I feel ya.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t do a liiittle decorating to bring that New Year’s spirit into our apartments. Plus, we want to kick off 2022 in the BEST way possible! That’s why I’ve created this list of hacks to get your apartment ready for New Year’s without having to go CRAZY and overboard with the shopping and decorations. This would be perfect if you plan on throwing a New Year’s Eve Party or even if you’re just chilling at home with a few friends. Let’s start 2022 off on the right foot!!
Let’s get into it…
New Year’s Decoration Idea #1: Balloons (Gold, White, and Black)
We can’t have a New Year’s celebration without some gold, white, and black balloons. Balloons are the perfect way to spice up your home for some New Year’s festivities and they are SO EASY to incorporate into your décor.
You could easily pick up a few gold, white, and black balloons from your local Party City and blow them up on your own. They would be so cute just hanging out on the floor of your apartment living room. I think the key with this hack is you need a lot of balloons to almost cover the floor and make it feel like a party 🥳.
Another option is to purchase a bunch of helium-filled balloons with strings from your local Party City (again in the New Year’s colors = gold, white, and black) and have those floating around your living room. The goal again with this one is to have A LOT. You could even fill an empty corner of your apartment with a bunch of these and make it a cute photo booth area for friends (that won’t cost you a ton)!
One last option is doing clear balloons filled with gold and black confetti. You can have these laying on your floor or floating and touching your ceiling, whichever works best for you and your style. You can even throw in some champagne-shaped balloons if you’re feeling like splurging 😉. Head over to my “New Year’s Decoration Ideas” Pinterest Board linked here for some inspo pics.
New Year’s Decoration Idea #2: Champagne and Champagne Glasses
What is NYE without some champagne?! This is an easy home décor add to your apartment that is also EXTREMELY functional lol. Another perfect addition to your New Year’s Decorations if you’re hosting some friends/family over.
If you have a bar cart, you could display your champagne, champagne glasses, an ice bucket, and any other bar cart décor you might already have. If you’re feeling EXTRA festive, you could throw in some gold tinsel and lay it on top of your bar cart. To add some layering, make this super cute DIY DISCO BALL GARLAND by taking these mini disco balls from Amazon and stringing them. If you’re not much of a DIY person, can definitely throw these mini disco balls into a clear vase and plop it onto your bar cart. Sprinkle in some festive confetti and you’re good to go. Super quick and easy NYE décor!
I feel like what can really elevate your bar cart (or countertop vignette if you don’t have a bar cart) is the type of champagne glasses you get. There are so many elegant, yet unique champagne glasses on Amazon, you’d be surprised at what you could get!! Here are a few of my favs linked below:
Champagne Glasses – Flute – Saucer – Belle Coupe – Set of 6 Glasses – Each Glass is 8.25 oz. – by Barski – Made in Europe
$69.95 ($11.66/count)
EVEREST GLOBAL Gold Rim Hammered Champagne Flutes set of 4, 8.0 oz
$37.99 ($9.50/count)
Furthermore, these can be saved and used throughout the year because who doesn’t need a good glass of champagne every once in a while 🍾.
New Year’s Decoration Idea #3: Hershey Kisses
This one is a CLASSIC NYE party decoration that would be super cute for kitchen countertops, coffee tables, or even on your bar cart. Add in a bunch of silver Hershey Kisses to a clear vase or bowl and label the bowl “Midnight Kisses“! You could also put some in your empty champagne glasses as they’re sitting on your bar cart or countertop to make use of items you already have laid out.
So fitting for New Year’s and a subtle (maybe a little cheesy, but it’s still cute) way to add in that NYE spirit!! Moreover, a perfect little snack for your friends and family to munch on while waiting for the clock to strike 12 🎉.
New Year’s Decoration Idea #4: Banners
This next one might be a given but you can’t celebrate New Year’s without some sort of banner. And these are CHEAP, so easy to just grab and hang up in your apartment living room. Although to spice things up, your banner doesn’t have to say the plain “Happy New Year”. There are some really cute and cheeky ones on Amazon that I’ve linked here (check them out):
New Year’s Decoration Idea #5: Keep Your Christmas Décor!
Lastly, this is the EASIEST hack and décor idea of them all – leave up your Christmas decorations! There’s no harm in leaving up your Christmas decorations through New Year’s and into 2022. Christmas decorations = happiness, and that’s that.
Leaving your Christmas decorations up will not only make your apartment feel less sterile and more “in the holiday spirit”, but some of the Christmas stuff can actually be perfect for NYE décor. For example, in one of my previous blog posts (linked here), I discussed using gold, textured ornaments as vase/bowl filler for your kitchen island. Although ornaments are Christmas-y, they could still very much be festive for a New Year’s Eve party!!
So there is no need to feel like you can’t have your Christmas decorations up for NYE. Adding to your already prepared Christmas décor will only elevate your apartment and make it way more festive and way more fun.
If you’ve made it all the way to the end…
